THE GUELPH GIVING PLEDGE

The Guelph Giving Pledge started with the simple idea that an insignificant transfer of wealth by the more fortunate can dramatically improve the quality of life of those in need. In other words, if those who have much more than they need gave back just a little bit, those who have much less than they need, gain a lot.

1/10th of 1%

The PLEDGE

You will be pledging to commit 1/10th of 1% of your net wealth on an annual basis to tackle the big issues of homelessness and poverty in our community. For example, if your net wealth is $1,000,000; you would commit $1000 per year to the Guelph Giving Pledge.

Today, there are more than 100 people in our community who experience chronic homelessness and more than 20,000 people living in poverty.

benefits of joining

You will be part of a community of like-minded philanthropic individuals helping those in our community with the greatest needs. Through our partnership with The Guelph Community Foundation and guided by our Advisory Committee (comprised of local community experts) we will make impactful community investments!

Consider the Guelph Giving Pledge as the portion of your philanthropic portfolio that goes towards helping those suffering from homelessness and poverty in our community.

OUR INVESTMENT

As a distinct charitable fund within the Guelph Community Foundation, all pledges made to the Guelph Giving Pledge will flow through the Guelph Community Foundation and directly to the various recipient organizations. Tax receipts will be managed and issued by the Guelph Community Foundation for 100% of your donation.

The Guelph Giving Pledge will provide financial support to those organizations that are helping to meet the immediate crisis needs of those experiencing homelessness and poverty (intervention) and to those organizations who are trying to provide long-term solutions for ending homelessness and poverty (prevention).

THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL.

There are currently more than 2,000 Community Foundations worldwide.
Imagine if each one of those Foundations had a Giving Pledge associated with it.  And further imagine, that the Guelph Giving Pledge was the one that got it all started.  We truly believe that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things and that together, we can change the world, one community at a time, starting with Guelph & Wellington County.

CHANGE THE WORLD

If you are interested in joining the Guelph Giving Pledge, please feel free to contact Chris Willard at the Guelph Community Foundation at 519.821.9216 or cwillard@guelphcf.ca or one of our Executive Committee members:
